and then you see this. Do you Gaze for hours or just take it and Run like Hell ?
Very Impressive and it belongs to one of the Merc Dime Registry folks. Take some guesses one thing I see is a Dead Give Away to whom this belongs.
By the way if any of you merc folks have a picture of yourself shoot it my way via Email. I would like to include you in my Merc Hall of Fame. Plus its nice to relate to a face when Gabbing like a woman on this forum.

I would just gaze! A complete set in one shot would be way out of my range.

As far as I know it is not For Sale. It sure would be neat to see though as you walk into a show.
Hey I matched you Covert for Convert. At least we agree on Collecting Coins but not really on Car makes.

Isn't it he that builds those great display cases?!? Plus, they all look white!
Eyes aren't good enough to read the name tag!

The name tag says Dennis J. Menn and he was going to have his set on display at a local show this weekend. But I didn't think his set was complete???
Do I win a prize?
Jon
you got it...yes it is complete, just 7 of them are NOT UNC's, still working on that issue. If several remember that for a while I was looking for the 26S in any grade to fill the display, well David Lawrence got an AU50 in the other day, just in the nick of time, and that, completed the set. Now for the upgrades to start................
Ken,
they are sharp today...cant fool em, and they read good too....thanks for the pic, and yes I am very proud of my set.

As I said before that is a Very Cool way to display a set and I bet the comments from the spactators were outstanding.
Ken
Are those the coins from your Registry set? If so why not add the other 7 even though grades are lower you can always upgrade which you've mentioned you'll do!
At least this way some of us more imbalanced ones will begin moaning and groaning about no hand signals and all.
Just a thought!
Marc
I toyed with that Idea, but due to the fact, my 16d is an AG3, I have decided not to do that (it just doesnt seem right), but I will rethink it.. Now, If John will pass that AU off to me, then I will post them all! LOL
Thanks for the comps..Ken... and you are correct, no less than 30-40 folks, stopped to talk about the set, and almost all that walked by, almost broke thier neck as they tried to just keep walking, staring at them, it was funny at times. In fact, Ed Hipps, came over and demanded that I sell him the set (joking of course) and when I told him it was not for sale, he said, everyhting has a price, and if I didnt sell them to him, he would just walk out with the set....That is for sure a great compliment form him! That man knows coins better than I ever will.

Great set and nice job on the display!
Is the set in the display set complete, or are you a few short in the frame?
I can see why people would snap their necks when walking past that group, did anyone get hurt?

the set is complete, and if you notice, I added at the bottom of each corner, something to fill the holes, until I get the overdates to fill them as well. I had them last year, but traded for one of them in the set. When I have all the coins, incl. the overdates, 80 coins, the only hole will be the card slot at the top that gives a story about the set, as you can see there now.
Thank you all for the THUMBS UP! I could not and will not be able to do all this without the help of so many on this board, THUMBS UP TO YOU GUYS and GALS!!!!!!!!!

Great presentation. I also agree that you should list all the coins in your Registry set! It matters not what grade they are, you have a complete set and should be proud of that accomplishment. You can always upgrade when the funds are available.
Perhaps when I finish (or get close to finished) I will acquire a beautiful display case like yours. I am jealous. Again, congratulations!
What a beautiful display. How do you keep the slabs in place--it looks like they would fall? I presume you put them in the display only for special occasions? It's a true shame that security reasons likely preclude keeping your set in that exquisite display case all the time!
Mark
yes they are in individual slots, that is why it costs so much to make a real wood display, but the cost is very trivial compared to just one coin. It is also, 1/4" safety tempered glass, which makes is very hard to break with a straight on hit., the back is secured by machined threded screws, so it makes it a real problem to open in a hurry. And for the main Question, they are taken out and vaulted after display....that makes it hard to enjoy them, except for the fact that the set is pictured on this site.

When you talked about the the 1/4" safety tempered glass, does that mean that there is glass in front of the coins? That would sure make the case a lot safer because the coins wouldn't fall out. Or is there another method to keep the coins in their individual spots?
I love Mercs, but can you imagine what a commemorative type set would like in a similar case? Each coin having a different design? How stunning would that be!!
Mark
I'm sending you a SASE right away, please package that set carefully!
Don't worry about the payments, we'll talk about it like much later

If I remember right, you were working on that display case about two years ago? That is a great presentation case. How much does it weigh?.Al
you always have a sharp memory, yep about two years ago, I built this one. I am not sure what its weight is, but I guess 20-25 lbs with coins........ the glass is what makes it weight the most, 1/4" tempered, but I wanted that for security, and so that children couldnt break it.
Thanks for compliments from all.
Now, all of yall can pitch in and donate the rest of them.....
I promise I will tell EVERYONE where they came from...

Just remember, you don't have to out run the bear, you just have to outrun at least one other person. I see you registered the rest of your set. Congrats on being 100%!
