PKOK Hoard Ike in Orginal Govt Holder

See this coin on E-Bay - no it's not mine.

Just thought it was odd to have a PKOK hoard Ike in the original Government issued holder.

That's interesting. The obverse looks to have fingerprints on it - Makes you wonder if the holder has been opened and the coin tampered with?

For sure it has been tampered with - the green around the edges of the coin is from heat - would have melted the plastic at the heat needed to turn the coin that color.

I'm ashamed of you. While the coin has nice toning, it is clearly not a PKOK or from the PKOK hoard. It looks nothing like a real PKOK. You own at least one and should know better. The silver proofs have an all gold/green center, with glorious rim toning. This one is colored in the center, with no great rim toning. The picture below is a real PKOK. The blazing gold center had to be turn way down to show the characteristic purple, blue, red rim toning.

    Greg,

I don't understand your comments. Why are you ashamed of me?? What have I done???

THIS IS NOT MY COIN ---- AS I STATED VERY CLEARLY IN MY FIRST POST.

I know what a PKOK is as I own many many pieces. Silver MS, Clad MS and Silver Proofs, in fact I own the coin in your scan.

I thought I would be a good guy and share my knowledge with other baord members. And for that I get balsted by a board member????? Seems I must have done something wrong. Please let me know what it is.

If others feel as Greg does, please let me know and I'll go away forever.

Sorry fellows for trying to share my knowledge of Ikes.

You misinterpret my post. I am certainly not saying it is your coin. Tongue in cheek, I am chiding you for not recognizing it as the mislable it is (if not down right AT fraud). As you know real PKOKs trade at phenomenal premiums. They are part of one specific hoard, and are identifyable by serious IKE dealers/collectors like you, Supercoin, Braddick, or Jim Barlow. Unscrupulous or unknowlegable sellers might be trying to glum on the the PKOK mystique by calling their stuff PKOK when it is clearly not.

So, come back, I am not slamming you. I am simply saying that we need to protect the market, by exposing the junk which are being called PKOKs.

BTW, I assume you agree that the coin in question is not a PKOK. If you disagree, I would love to hear your arguements.

    Greg,

    Yep!

I agree with your assesment on the coin.

Clearly a misrepresentation of a what looks like a neatly toned Ike.

Still feels like you were slamming me.

    Still friends!image

I have to agree with Greg that this coin cannot qualify as a PKOK. To me it is a heat toning (damage) coin. Many PCGS first generation holders with Silver Proof coins are in this color (most of them have hazy blue field and some red/green/orange colors). They all were toned under heat either intentionally or naturally.

When I lived in Texas several years ago, I saw many many such kinds of coins and you know Texas is HOT and HUMID. image
