Congratulations Scott Wetzel

Nice job Scott on finishing your 1974 topps baseball set!

1974 set

That is an awesome gpa for that size set. How many sets are you looking to compete? Are you thinking about all of the 1970's topps sets? You've got a great start.

    Congratulations Scott,

That's quite an achievement! I'm slowly attempting to build this set. I actually added the #160 Brooks Robinson PSA 8 to my set today (Thanks Abe, if you're reading this). This upgrade should move me up to #39 on the registry. image Great set! I'm still looking for the '74 Traded cards though. I think that's the next set I'll focus on (nice small set and not a lot of competition).

    Great job Scott!
  • 700 Cards x $5 = $3,500 grading fees. How does this make sense? Either a smaller set or much more valuable set is required for a good ROI. However, if it for the love of the game, fine! I am a strong supporter of PSA (#1) but can not justify getting every card graded. Even if they are MINT 9, the #s still do not work. Anyhow, a beautiful set.
  • iconductor,

You need to take a look through ebay to see what the commons are selling for.

    Undgraded mint = $1 - $2

    Graded psa 9 = $20 - $60
    Graded psa 8 = $8 - $25

How is it that the grading fee is a bad investment?

  • Everyone, thanks for the kind words. Also thanks to the many people who helped me on my quest. I will continue to upgrade on all of my sets. I am working on sets from 1973 thru 1976. I am just a few cards short on the 1973 set. Also i may get more active in the Kelloggs Krowd.

    Scott
I am working on PSA baseball sets in 8 or better from 1973 thru 1976. Also Mike Schmidt & Pete Rose sets.

Great job Scott! Your sets are first rate and will be tough to beat. I'm hoping to someday see a vintage regular issue set put together all PSA 9 or better. I think you and Frank Bakka have the best shot of doing that.

    Keep up the good work!

    Scott:

Congratultions on your amazing sets. You ought to send me an e-mail sometime so that we can work out some deals on Schmidt cards. You've built an amazing run in a short period of time. You are the MAN when it comes to '70s sets.

I am actively buying MIKE SCHMIDT gem mint baseball cards. Also looking for any 19th century cabinets of Philadephia Nationals. Please PM with additional details.

    Scott,

Congrats...I know you have been working on that set for a while. You and I had MANY transactions a couple of years ago, when I was in the game. I still love that set even thou many consider it the "ugly duckling" of the 70's.

    Keep up the good work!!!

    Kindest regards,

  • Scott is a machine on those 70's sets. I hate it when I accidently bid against him on something, kinda feel like an Iraqi Republican Guard staring at the U.S. Marines. On a side note Scott is a super guy to deal with, he's helped me with my 73 set and I'm very appreciative for that. Hey Scott, those Kelloggs sets would ripe for the pickin. I'm sure the Kelloggs Klan kould be very helpful in your kuest. image
Stan Musial topped the .300 mark 17 times and won seven National League batting titles. A three-time MVP, he played in 24 All-Star Games. Probably, the greatest player who is overlooked and underappreciated.
  • Scott,

I think that upgrading those Kellogg's sets is definitely the way to go. image Those 74's aren't very pretty in 9's. I highly recommend the K cards.
