Rossie's FB or NFB - Just like the Sneetches in Dr. Suess?

Is PCGS going to start marking all the Non-Full Band Roosies as NFB? How else can we tell if it is truely NFB or if no one bothered to get it re-checked?

edited: see my next post to reference to the Sneetches

  • I don't know.

I will guess there won't be an easy way to tell. Something like that happened when they started giving out cameo for older proof coins. If a big price gap appears between FB and NFB Roosies people will look at their existing ones and send them in for regrade before selling.

If it's a full band Roosie it will have the FB designation on it like the Mercs do. A full band Roosie will
read....1952D MS66FB. A non full band will read......1952D MS66. This is the way I see it to be.

If you're asking if AFTER review, is there any way to see if the coin has been already checked for the FB designation I see your concern, because, like an upgrade from grade to grade, or to cameo or d-cam, there isn't a way to track the specific coin, to see if it ever "made it" or how many times it has been "tried". I hope there is a positive answer to your question, but I think the answer is "no".

Why would PCGS want to mark a coin as NFB? It would be against their interests as it would create perhaps several extra designation reviews for a coin that doesn't (or barely doesn't) meet the standard.

Well if they do NOT mark things as NFB, then I will NOT buy any PCGS coin that is in a set that MIGHT start having a new designation. I am guessing that sooner or later EVERY coin will have one or more designations. If they do not mark things as NFB, then it will be like the Sneetches in Dr. Suess.

The Sneetches are the ones who paid money to get a star on your belly because people with stars were "better". Then the people with stars paid to have their stars removed and claimed that was "better". This kept going and going until stars didn't matter and PCGS had all of the money
