Recieved my "Not Genuine" PCGS submission back. Thought I might have had one but if you look closely at the reverse the 'D' is in the wrong location...I Think

Definitely not a D that belongs on that ag coin.

Next time you might consider posting a photo on the board prior to submitting. I think a majority of the board members could have saved you the submission fee on this coin, by letting you know it was not genuine.

Thats a tough break, The 16D is one of the most conterfieted merc dime.Next time get one thats in a slab.

I agree with Walt, don't buy one outside of a slab; however, make sure the slab is with one of the companies that will back up their opinion.

Thanks to all for the sympathy and I would have posted it prior to submitting it had I discovered this forum prior. The good news is ..I didn't buy it, it was in the collection that I was asked to inventory and had been in an the collection for about 40 - 50 years - too bad for the heirs.

I have learned more from this forum in 5 months then from all of the books!!

Sorry to hear that it was fake. I couldn't tell much by your picture. What are you going to do with it now? Will you melt it down for the silver?

Merc - I don't know what I'll do since the coin technically doesn't belong to me - I put it in the flip and the PCGS "not genuine" baggie and stuck in with some other raw mercs. I did not return it to the album.
