HUGE day at Coin Show for Me - Pics

Went to the coin show today in Milwaukee. Many tables with toned coins. I spent a total of $330, but look what I got....

PF 67 6 Steps - ANACS - Unbelievable color, much better the picture. A true monster.

This coin is raw:

1879-S PCGS MS63 - Picture does not do the coin justice. It is awesome.

image

1941 NGC MS62 - Not quite as dark as the picture turned out, but my first toned one.

This coin is raw with beautiful rainbow pastel toning on face and then it gets darker toward the edge. I just love it.

Another raw coin with rainbow toning. The pictures just don't do justice to any of these coins. They truly need to be seen to appreciate.

As you can tell I was a little excited about my finds today and just had to share.

  • Your Morgans are definite winners....well done

    GIMME THAT 85-O !!!image
  • Looks like you bought some nice stuff to add to the collection. Congrats on the nice additions.
  • Can anyone give me a guess on the grades of the two raw morgans? I know the disclaimer image that it is hard to grad from photos but a guess is fine. Thanks.

    Very nice
You did very well for what you spent.

    Brian.
  • Nice coins.

Since you provided the disclaimer for the "guess the grade" exercise, my guesses on the Morgans are MS62 for the 1885o and AU58 for the 1886p.

I like that 85o and 86 morgan, they sure do look great! Looks like you're really getting a good eye for what to look for and having fun. That's what it's all about.

Excellent scores Lori - the Morgans look to be comparable to your 79 - so I'll go MS63/64 - You're developing a good eye! image

As for grading guesses, with the caveats in place image , I would say the 1885o is a strong MS62 or weak MS63. The 1886 looks to be a 65 unless that color on her eyebrow and cheek is a dullish grey. If it is, then AU-58. Look to see if there is any flatness there. That's another giveaway.

Although we know that it is always hard to grade from scans, the glare in your pictures makes it particularly difficult. Both 64 are my guesses.

  • That 85 has a yellow streak first then pink then blue then green then yellow again by the eyebrow then the darker colors kick in. It is truly amazing the way the colors blend and how pale the colors are.

    Lori,

Nice looking coins you have there!

Is the show over or does it run on Sunday, too?

  • No, today was the last day and it was over with at 4. It started on Thursday already so I was surprised it had such nice stuff left and lots of it.

    Lori,

I just came back from a two week vacation, to find out I missed a nice local show. Oh well, there will be more.

  • Lori,

Super-cool finds! Very nice all around. The Walking Liberty is actually quite nice looking!

I wouldn't hazard a grade on the Morgans. I haven't learned enough about them yet. That last Morgan is the nicest of the bunch (IMHO). Her cheek looks nice and clean, the fields look almost PL (if they are not more so in person.)
