We have utilized the service on approximately six different occasions, sometimes on behalf of clients. In the cases where PCGS agreed with us, we were given a choice of receiving either " current fair market value" for the coin in question or the "current fair market difference in value" between the original and lower grade coin.
Singapore- If you are successful in your attempt, do NOT accept their first 2, probably 3, offers they make for "fair market value" or the "fair market value of the difference in grade". Be a good negotiator!! Do your homework on the coin's value. Perhaps, use a trusted dealer to help you determine proper values. Unless you just purchased the coin, your purchase price and purchase date are NONE of their business. Good luck!
I have a Guaranteed Regrade that is still in process. I submitted the coin on January 15. PCGS requested a copy of my purchase receipt in mid-February. No feedback since.
I felt like I was treated right. I purchased a 1888-O DMPL 65 off ebay and when received it my jaw dropped as not DMPL. I immediately contacted them, they said send it into them which I did and came back re-slabbed to just a MS65 not even a PL. I had the receipt which the refunded me approx. 70% of my purchase price. The coin quality is way above average and walked away very satisfyied with PCGS.
Until, I decided to share more business with them since treated me right above. I sent them two anacs slabs for the crossover service. They sent back the two slabs without any explanation what so ever. I entered the invoice number < as they suggested to get status> on their web site but nothing came back. I tried calling and emailing but could get no response. Maybe they were afraid of hurting my feelings if my coins were dogs?? I paid them for the crossover service I felt at least they could give me some reason or opioion. Anyway that was last time with PCGS.

Dimetime, did PCGS come forward and tell you that the coin was damaged while being holdered or did you receive the coin back in its holder, notice the damage, and then you inquired? I have a coin that appears to have been damaged while being holdered. I am anticipating sending it in for a review.

Everything else that I have owned was accurately graded.
