    Congratulations!

    I'm not an expert on this stuff, but isn't it really rare to get a complete set? Is it worth a big premium over a raw T2 proof set? If not, it sounds like a great "hold"!

  • Thanks all, and yes, Russ, for once, I do. image (My unopened '64s have yielded nothing yet.)

    A complete set of 6 clear s 1981s is a major find and are very expensive.

  • A couple of weeks ago I some how snagged a 1981 type 2 for $101 on ebay and the day after I recieved it, I took it to a show and sold it for $250 and a really nice toned american eagle.

  • I've added pictures in the top post at macro, the images are about 8-12K each. Sorry if they're big.

    If anyone wants the high res images for fun, or wants me to shoot the other four coins for comparison, I'd love to.

    I hate these, your type 2s look like type 1s to me.image

    You're using a 1979 coin for your type I examples, and a 1981 type I for your type II examples. What's confusing is that a 1979 Type II is identical to a 1981 Type I. None of your pictures show a 1981-S Type II.

    Here is a 1981-S type II SBA.

    Got this from Leo, I hope it helps...
    Here are the 79-S and 81-S mint-marks.
    They are from top left to right;
    79-S T1, 79-S T1, 79-S T2
    81-S T1, 81-S T2, 81-S T2
    The last two big blowups show the T2 S over the T1 S. That was probably
    the mints way to improve the MM
