A couple of years ago, I bought a couple of pounds of "unsearched wheats" from about five different sellers (total of about 10 lbs or roughly 1,500 cents) for my daughter and I to search through. Of course, there was nothing there but common dates/mint marks but at least it got her interested and filled a few holes in her Whitman.
I was disappointed because I really thought there was a small (microscopic?) chance of finding a key or semi-key in the lots. NOT!!! But, if you buy some of these dutch wheats and want to pi$$ off the seller, when you post feedback, say something like,
"Thanks! A 14-D in XF and a 55 DDO in MS6? RB"
They'll go nuts thinking they missed something when they looked through them!
Gosh, I'm BAD!!!

Yes, He won't admit it. I'd say he overpaid by at least $1500.00. Glenn ( I too have told ebay "unsearched" sellers of goodies that would make them wonder how they missed the jewel )
coppernicus, thats a good idea but you might be misleading future buyers into thinking that there could be some good stuff when actually its just a pile of circulated crap.
I think "unsearched" really means "unsearched by us". Probably this crap trades in bulk between dealers and has been checked to death. If they were really "fresh" coins, do you think they would be on ebay????
Ive been thru literally 75k wheats in the past 4 months...unsearched is others coins tossed into a bag of unwanted...when it gets heavey enough, they bag and call it unsearched. I took a bold step, and bought 20 rolls of wheat cents, wrapped by bank (coinstar my guess) but suprisingly, I pulled about one of every early date from these rolls. I have 35 pounds of pre 30's lincolns with multiples on 11-d / 10 10-d / 6 1909's / 5 1914's (no D) only date I didnt find any at all was the 1922.
anyhow, I have a bag of creme, but I had to search thru the searched to get it.

Very perceptive - that's what I asked in another thread about this same auction a couple of days ago.
