i'm aware of a 1954-D/S and S/D but not a doubled reverse. if that's the case it's most likely machine doubling.

It's an excellent example of machine doubling. I'd hang onto it for reference.

Appears to be strike doubing to me ... the area around the date appears to be from die deteroriation, later coins likely had a cud in this area as that part of the die chunked off. Die deterioration also can impart doubling on a coin.

Definetly machine doubling. True doubled dies from that era did not have doubling on the mint mark because the mintmark was stamped on after the die was hubbed...........Ken
