With all the military action going on, I thought it was time to enact my own mission. Lately I have read many posts about low pop cards from the late 60's. So I decided to "root out" all low pop raw cards to see what I could find.
I started with my 1969 topps, which I must say I have very few of. I used the pop report as a guide and looked for anything with a pop of 10-12 or less in PSA 8 . With my "night vision" enabled(desk lamp and magnifying glass) I found 5 candidates: Higgins, Abernathy, Raymond, Jaster, Ferrara (aka Alpha company). Alpha company was not my best battalion, and they were only capable of pulling one PSA 8(Higgins) and the rest PSA 7's.
Next I "flanked" around to the 62's. I had amassed quite a stronghold in this year, so I was able to "recuit" 15 candidates (aka Bravo company). Bravo had more qualified personel and returned a hefty 7 - PSA 8's
#9 Davenport Pop 7
#12 Craft Pop 7
#37 Tribe Hill Trio Pop 8
#48 Terry Pop 9
#166 Lee Pop 8
#210 Face Pop 5
#377 Orsino Pop 8
My final push will be in the 68's. Here I ran through 100's of candidates to find the 7 members of "Delta Force": Fritz Peterson, Tom Satriano, The Hamilton twins(2 copies of Jack Hamilton), Walt Williams, Sammy Ellis, and A's rookies(#199). All appear to have advanced skills to become "elite" 8's. They are all off to Camp PSA for their mission.
And as information czar I feel it is necessary to provide some shameless self promotion....the 69's are all on ebay now...the 62's will appear this weekend..and the 68's should be back in 5 days plus travel time with the current specials. Here are my auctions
And although this hopefully has provided levity, war is no joke....support our troops!
Thanks,
Bruce
