Hey Merc people, why didn't this one get the FB designation?

The bands look all there to me. Am I missing something about the criteria?

    It's a proof.

Um, because it is a proof and doesn't need a designation...

Same reason there is no FBL designation for proof Franklins.

All of the "full strike" designations are for business strike coins.

    Not proofs.

The 1942 Proof Mercury sometimes has flat bands. Most proofs have sharp band though.

In defense of Russ, even though Proofs do not receive the FB designation, I have indeed seen some that do not have full bands.

    Russ:
While it is true that a very small percentage of Mercury proofs do exhibit bands that are not full.
99.9% do, as a result an FB designation for Mercs would be redundant. The same could be said for
other series with distinguishing characteristics with respect to strike. The one exception may be Jefferson proofs, where certain proof dates are notorious for poor strikes. ANACS is now designating
5, 5.5, and 6 steps on proof Jeffersons.
