Do you think there are any PCGS MS67/68 Roosevelts that are not FB?

And if so, are they improperly graded?

Yes, I think there will be some properly graded Roosies, even in the higher grades, that will not make the FB designation.

I have one, a 1956, which is properly graded as PCGS MS-67, which does not have full lower bands.

I have a gorgeous 53 S MS67 that is not FB, and I think it is 1955 S, but I could be wrong, that never comes in FB. mdwoods

Steve, I have personally seen two 1950S PCGS MS68 Roosies that were not FB. There are going to be some dates that
you will not see a full band in well over 80% of the population in PCGS MS67 holders. There are only 33 MS68 Roosies on
the pop report and I'll bet at least 60% of those get the FB.

You will also see dates where 80% or better of the population will get the FB. Like 48D, 49D, 50D, 53D. I rarely see one
of these dates not with full split bands.

There are some very clean, well struck and proof like clads that don't have full bands.

Onlyroosies, et al., - I can't think of a more fun thing than the recent FB designation, unless it is comparing those 33 8s, and the roosie collectors' "new alignment".
It should be very, very interesting to see how the 7s, 8s, and the whole FB percentages turn out. I think by this time next year, we should have a lot of our questions answered. image

RC, Yes this is going to be fun. You had all the fun making 8's, now we get to have fun finding full bands. As far
as those 33 MS68's go. I can account for all but a handful and you and I both know that the real #1 set still
is'nt registered. The only 68's I expect to see on the market are going to be newly made coins.

Will the real #1 set owner please stand up!!!

I have to admit that I probably had the lion's share of the fun until recently. I can tell you that I think I will really miss the upcoming competition. The Roosie competition, along with the Jeff competition was the best. (Third was the Wash. qtrs, and then the Frankies, though they weren't any less competitive) It's all just a matter of making friends (friendly competition) with the other registrants, which is usually pretty darn easy. I wish I was still "in it". Have fun! This is gonna be great!

Yes, there are many, many, many . . .

  • I have a 50-S MS68 that only has full bands under a microscope -- it doesn't look like the lower bands are separated just looking at it.

RC, Its never to late to jump back in. I'm a good example of that. I sold off my complete Roosie set including
my NGC set 3 years ago. I missed it so much I started a new set. Mostly pretty toned MS67's. When I sold
my original set it was split up between 6 buyers. One of the buyers purchased about half of it and went
on a quest to rebuild it. A year after that it was offered back to me and I jumped on it and continued to
improve it. I love the competition but my sole goal is " have fun with it".

If there was ever a time to do it again, nows the time. Its a new game.

I think as true today as in 2003. There are many 67 or higher coins where the band aren't there. I could simply be the die condition.
