Dumb ? about PCGS Regrades

Now that PCGS guarantees a PCGS coin will not be downgraded on a regrade submission, do these coins retain there original PCGS # number or are they assigned new ones.?

    Eastside,

The no-downgrade guarantee on "regrades" is nothing new - that has always been the policy. Yes, the coins are given new ID numbers when they are regraded.

I sent two coins in for regrade a while back. Neither upgraded. They were both in new holders with new ID tags when i got them back.

  • if regrades guarantees no downgrades and will get a new ID and slab, then what is the use of the option 'REHOLDER'?

then what is the use of the option 'REHOLDER'?

...it only costs $5, as opposed to $15, $30, $50, or $100 depending on the teir of service you pick.

    Goldenboy,

The "reholder" option takes care of things like scratched, cracked or chipped holders and does not involve a "regrade"/re-examination of the coin.
