1971-d and 1977-d kennedies struck on silver planchet

has anyone heard of these? If so, how common are they and what do they cost?

I'd look in Breen's book but I don't remember any 77-D. The 71-D is possible...well...a silver-clad is possible but I don't remember a reporting a 90% silver plancet Kennedy of that date. I'd be interested to find out! image

Never heard of the 71-D on silver. I saw a 77-D on silver at the 91 FUN show.

Belonged to someone who constantly gets bashed on these threads, so I'll withhold names.

Just purchased (today) a 74-D Ike on silver planchet. I know there is a 77-D and 76-D Ike on silver planchet. I thought there was a similar parallel with Kennedys on all three dates.

Not sure about value on the Kennedys, but assume they are worth less than the Ikes (size of coin).

I would think the Kennedys are worth $3000-4000 per, but can't prove it.

    love to hear others comments.

segoja- Was your new 40% planchet 1974-D Ike the ANACS plate coin? Is so, I've seen it, and it definitely rates HIGH on the coolness scale.

There are reports of 40% silver 71-D half dollars. I don't know anyone who's
seen one, but there are rumors that several exist. On a related note; there
were quite a few 1970 mint sets shipped out in 1971 envelopes and packaging.
