Recommendations for Good, Very Cheap Scanner

I am looking to buy an adequate scanner to take pictures of my coins with. I want to pay up to $75, but anything under $100. Can you guys recommend a certain model that I should look at? I am planning to sell some coins, so I need pics of them first.

Also, what is the cheapest and most reliable store to go to on the net to buy a scanner?

Thanks

I recommend an Epson Perfection. I've got the 2450 model and it's great. However it's priced over your allocation. They have a model in the range your looking at. Here's a link.

  • I use a HP 2200c scanjet, goes for abt $100-$119. Very simple operations too. image

i love my scanner - it's easy to use and works well. it's about 3 years old so i imagine it's way out of date but it only cost $30 new. it's a Visioneer 3100.

I would recommend the new Dell A940 All In One printer. It has a scanner on top, can photocopy and has 4800 DPI color printing. All the reviews I have read have said that the scanner is one of the best available - very true colors and and perfect character recognition. Price is $139 but a $30 rebate right now for another few weeks knocks it down to $109.

  • I use a Visioneer 8100. As I remember it was within your price range. For the most part it works well, but has problems with glare on some MS coins. It was used for all the images in the three links below.
