Great Article about the 9/11 Quarter Fund Raiser in Numismatist!

Mark Rush wrote a terrificly complimentary piece about Wondercoin's idea and hard work (along with Registrycoin and Cosmicdebris) sellingthe 100 PCGS NY State Quarters, to raise over $40,000 for the victims of 9/11 back in 2001.

The article complimented the folks who donated the high quality quarters, and PCGS for donating the slabbing and special attributions. The article named lots of names, including pmh1nic, DcamMike1, Bcsican, Flying56eagle, merz2 and others.

Brought back a good memory, and made me feel proud of the Forum all over again. Kudos again to all the organizers for that great project!

It's on pp55-56 of the April edition of Numismatist.

Great article and great picture to go with it.

It was the hobby's finest hour.

PCGS should be proud as well for playing a role in all of this.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

    K6AZ:

I haven't got my issue either! For what it's worth, there were a lot more names mentioned in the original article, but Numismatist now has a stringent length requirement and so I had to literally cut the article in half. So if i overlooked anyone, I assure that almost surely it was because of the pruning I was required to do.

Understand Mark. Actually, when that went down, I was in Chicago loading up computer equipment for my eBay sales, and I wasn't doing much with coins so I wasn't involved in it. I just hate it when someone gets a publication before I do!

And they claimed that the changes made to the Numismatist were to make it better. Articles can no longer be indepth research but mere sound bites.

Still I think you did an excellent job within the space allowed to you.

I lost a 2'nd cousin and I will most likely have mine for a long time. It reminds me of people pulling together for a good cause.

I emailed the magazine asking them how to order a copy of the April issue because I was mentioned in one of the articles and Marilyn Reback Senior Editor of the NUMISMATIST told me to send her my address and she would mail me a complimentary copy. image That was extremely nice of her.
