Toshiba PDR-4300 (two thumbs up!)

I have been dying to get a digital camera, this has been no secret. However, it will be some time before I can scrape enough change together to purchase one. On an up note, my wife's grandmother just purchased the Toshiba PDR-4300 off of QVC (the home shoppers channel). Its a 4 mega-pixel camera with built in macro support. Because it was an impulse buy, and because it came from the home shoppers channel, I didn't have high hopes. However, upon its arrival, I told her I would run it through its paces to see how it held up against similiar cameras in the market. Below I posted two images I took with it after about an hour of playing around. I read the manual thoroughly first, and took more test shots than I care to remember. Anyway, here are the results:

These were taken in macro mode with no zoom. The camera supports 2.8 optical zoom and an additional 2.2 digital zoom. I think the results are quite nice considering the short amount of time spent getting aquainted with the camera. image

  • You are doing good for 1 hour. Did you say manual. Maybe I could do better if I read that thing.........Ken
  • Thanks. However, 1 hour may have been a bit misleading on my part. The 1 hour refers only to my hands on experience with this particular camera. I have done professional photography using film for years. So I do have a bit of experience where cameras are concerned. I have also done plenty of photography using various digital cameras. However, this is my first experience with the camera mentioned (the Toshiba PDR-4300). There! I hope that clarifies things a bit. image
