Circulation Find

My elderly mother called me last night because she knows I'm a coin collector and she wanted to tell me about this funny looking penny she got in change that day. She said it has the words "ONE CENT" on the back in the middle of a wreath-looking thing and asked if it was some sort of foreign coin (you know, like how you every once in a while get a Canadian coin in your change). She said it was dated 1908 and that's when I knew for sure that she had been given an Indian Head cent.
Now just to give you an idea of how long the Lincoln cents have been in circulation, this woman thought that this penny was a foreign coin, yet Buffalo nickles and Standing Liberty Quarters were still being made when she was a little girl.

Now listen boy, I'm tryin' to teach you sumthin' . . . . that ain't no optical illusion, it only looks like an optical illusion.
My mind reader refuses to charge me....
I don't think so. I have not seen the coin and tried to explain over the phone where to look to see if it had a mint mark. At first she thought she saw something, but then decided it was a part of the bow that nearly touches the rim. I'll have to look next time I see her given that if it has a mint mark, it's still nearly worth $50 even in just Fine condition.
