KenyaBuster's Post Is Why Many Do Not Like This Forum

Greg:
Frankly, your post sickened me. You are a smart guy and make some great points, but the tone of your posts and your lack of tack are your downfall. Your personal attack type of posts make some collectors not want to participate on this Board. I can see why you were banned. I remember your post of the NGC President's criticism of PCGS. That post really was not appropriate. That's what I thought when I read it and was not surprised to see that it was deleted. Nor was your personal attack on David Hall appropriate.
Why not repent of your bittnerness and seek forgiveness and reconciliation. Call David Hall and ask him to forgive you. If he won't take your call ask publically on this Board. Despite what others say, I don't think you need therapy, you just need to ask DH to forgive you. Try it, the healing you be great. And, who knows, he might just ask your forgiveness as well. And, what might really be a surprise is things can get better.

He really does not offend me. I look at him as a young man who is still maturing and evolving. He is obviously very mad at the world. Anyone who calls himself "Mean and Evil", obviously has some unresolved psychological issues. He is a very smart young man who has alot of potential. I hope he makes the choice of rational discourse and the proper way to resolve his disputes with PCGS via personal contact with David Hall rather than angry rherotic. I wish him well.

i think that overall the good out weights the bad and with gregs reinstatement things are improved on both sides
start over with greg getting reinstated on pcgs
sincerely michael
i also think some making generic blanket statements about NGC and their grading ..............
is simply not true
for me ngc or pcgs holder
if the coin is all there so to speak and is excpetional based on my eye
looking at coins within my speciality
then
it really doesnot matter whose holder it is in as it is about the coin!!!!
also just as there are exceptional superb coins along with average coins in pcgs/ngc holders
there are also crappy/mistakes coins in both pcgs and ngc holders
i mean that is a normal part of life................ with anything, no one is perfect!
JUST MAKE SURE IF YOU BUY A COIN IN AN NGC/PCGS HOLDER MAKE SURE IT IS SUPERB EXCEPTIONAL TO YOU! MAKE SUTRE IT DANCES ANS SINGS TO YOU AND DO NOT WORRY ABOUT THE REST in pcgs/ngc holders YOU DO NOT LIKE!
sincerely michael
If a part of what we read in Greg M's thread is incorrect (and his first sentence is wrong, as he states he was banned along with other members- implying three or more were banned, when in reality it was two) then all of it is suspect.
Some great thoughts, but it would seem there has got to be a better way of getting points/opinions across, unless or course, that wasn't really the intent at all.
Now, as far as being called a KoolAid drinker- that's getting a bit worn out and played.
It certainly doesn't indear anyone to what positive there is to skim from the rest of his writings.

(((Hey, maybe that explains a lot...)))
It's good to know that each one of us may think on our own and express those ideas- whether it is a popular thought, or an unpopular one right here on these forums without being tagged. Well, usually.

You remember incorrectly. I made no such post. I asked a question over on the NGC forums and it was answered by Mark Salzberg. That was the end of it. EVP copied my post and Mr. Salzberg's response and posted it over here. I made no comment on that thread. I had nothing to do with or any control over it being posted over here. Personally, I also thought it was not appropriate to post it here.
The number of people who seem to think I made this post is large. Facts should be in order before saying my banning was justified because of this post.
Nor was your personal attack on David Hall appropriate.
Nor was his personal attack on me appropriate, especially when he deactivated my account so I couldn't respond. Like I said in my post, cowardly.

A much better approach to this would have been a Mature letter to Hall explaining your concerns and trying to meet somewhere in the middle, on common ground. It's just not smart to blast anyone in an open forum.
David Hall has said some preposterous things to individuals on this forum. I laughed at most, because I'm sure after he posted them, he probably wished he had not done so. WE all have!
As smart as you appear to be, Greg, with your ability to write concisely, I am surprised at your approach to this.

I have had some of my threads pulled, just for asking PCGS to explain service times and fingerprints. Guess we can not ask that on here!
I wish that Homerun would only post on Q&A, and leave this side for us complainers. Without us, there is no need for this board!

Not to be morbid, but I always thought these references to Kool-Aid were meant to connote the mass suicide in 1978 by followers of Jim Jones:
See this
And they aren't even sure it was Kool-Aid!
I 'fess up. It was I who copied Greg's and Mark Salzberg's post from across the street to over here. I did it not so much to stir the pot, but because I felt that it was of broad interest to many folks here. One can make an easy argument that Mark Salzberg's comments were laced with politesse, but that does not mean that his comments weren't of broad interest here.
And, Typetone, if my doing that offended you, then I apologize. But, I did not know in advance who would be offended or even how much offense would have been taken.
I recognized the risk of uproar over what I was intending to do (to copy the posts over here). Still, I felt that risk of a harsh response should not deter me from doing what I felt was a reasonable thing to do.

You are correct. The references to Kool-Aid is intended to invoke the lessons learned from Jonestown.

It's possible to mute critics on these boards, but doing so doesn't improve service, or improve PCGSs standing in the collector community, or even make the community believe they are open-minded to complaints. Admit it or not, Greg wasn't the only collector influenced by the heavy-handed approach used. I believe this decision made many people uncomfortable with PCGS, even though they won't say so here.
Many of you will say to yourselves, "Who cares, the board is better without all the negativity". PCGS should care. Discussion, point of view, and illumination always improve customer service, and benefit you and the company. Angering customers does not. This decision feels too much like retaliation, and not like a well reasoned response. Mr.Hall, its your board, and your company, but if you want a loyal legion of customers who respect what PCGS stands for and knows them to be a friend of the collector, "my way or the highway" is not the best approach. Greg's posts have always been on the cutting edge and offended some. My hopes are that this incident doesn't push him to go to far, and offend many.
When the Japanese were faced with imminent Allied invasion of their home islands, what did they do? They launched the Kamikaze -- Divine Wind -- attacks against the American fleet.
When the Iraqis are faced with conventional, military impotence in the face of overwhelming coalition military superiority, what did the Iraqis do? They bomb and shoot at their own people, spew lies on TV and launch suicide attacks.
When Enron execs realized that they were about to get it from the government, what did the execs do? They ordered their people to start destroying documents.
Desperate people do desperate things...

The situation has become worse and there does not seem to be any way to resolve it. What troubles me most, is that Greg was shaking Davids hand one day, and then without warning he is banned. It is this " no warning " action, that I think bothers a lot of people more than anything.
This is a FORUM. Greg had his views and opinions, and as long as he did not attack anybody personally at PCGS, then I think he did nothing wrong. Then again, I faintly remember many criticisms of PCGS GRADERS and and the service at PCGS, which was pretty consistent on GREG's part, and I imagine HRH got very sick of it.
Does anybody have any ideas on how to repair this situation, other than a BODYBAG ??
Does anybody expect an apology from either side??? I DON'T THINK SO !!
I think from reading other posts, that HRH should address the situation by reinstating Greg, with a stern warning; to not attack PCGS or it's employee's, ( There are limits. It is only common sense).
I think almost all of us know what limits there are and we do not cross that line.
If Greg or anybody is consistently out of line (and most of us do recognise when somebody has crossed a line ), then I think that the person making an especially outrageous post should have that post highlighted in RED by Carol or whoever, at PCGS, which would be a clear signal to the poster and all posters viewing, that the person who has made that post is now on probation for one week and any further outrageous posts during that week will mean suspension for a month.
I am making these "rules" up as I type, but my point is that there probably should have been some simple, clear, forum rules in place, to prevent what has happened.
I know some people will say that anything should be allowed here, but I do not agree. Some things are taken too far, and all we need is a couple of easy rules to follow.
Some rules are necessary in life and we all have to follow them. An example being Rules OF THE ROAD. Everybody has to follow the rules of the road in order to arrive safely at their destination.
The same should prevail here:::All we need are a few simple rules, or a WARNING SYSTEM.
PCGS IS A WORK IN PROGRESS
I agree. It's unnecessarily personal and negative.
The Thread that EVP started here IMO had nothing to do with him getting banned. In fact after reading his post I PMed Greg and stated that his response was quite refreshing and had some very good content to it. Of course I knew he would never respond to the PM because both himself and myself just plain do not care for each other. Some people can forgive and forget, but others cannot and I believe this is the gist of this whole Damn Mess.

Most like this forum, just hang out here and see how long things stay on the front page. His post is one of the reasons I like this forum. The registry forum is ego driven by the few who think they run it, perhaps that is why no one bothers to go to that forum.
Greg (typetone). Since you primarily hang out on the registry forum, perhaps you should stay there instead of making claims based on statements that are outright false on this forum.
while greg margulis the man may be knowledgeable, courteous and helpful as he has always demonstrated to me in PM's, i find his "mean and evil" persona to be distasteful to the point of being pitiful. the two just don't match up together. i see a man with much to offer the collecting community who harbors some deep seated animosity towards HRH and PCGS. whether or not it's justified really doesn't matter. one thing i know is that obsession, positively or negatively directed, generally has a detrimental affect on the person directing it. this quest of greg's to battle PCGS has an unfortunate and foreseeable conclusion.
a term which rises to my mind is one often used by a friend------egomaniac with an inferiority complex. and please excuse the psyche101, these things are just borne of experience.

I took it as a reference to The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test .
I dropped a hint in the original post that Hall was on the boards last night. At least he signed on and was lurking. So it will be interesting to see what he does now.
With Greg and Dave though, they have legitimtate grievences that they have to work out if they want a working relationship and I think they do or it wouldn`t have gotten to this point. There`s other members that are more informed then I about the grievences then I. So I doubt it has to do with Greg or Dave themselves as opposed to the emotional responses`. Whatever the reason/excuse the forum has kept going. Guess it depends on if you want your burrito with or without Hot Sause.

Sorry Braddick Greg's statement about "other members-implying three or more were banned" is NOT incorrect. (Sorry for the double negative.) Over on NumisAddict, Kaleidoscope is claiming he was banned, as well as Dakra and GMarguli. That would be at least 3.
Though there a number of other of other frequent posters that have not posted in quite awhile.
I've seen people write far worse on these boards than this. Its just Gregs message is in front of us today. Smart people should know how to interpret whats written and should just take the negative or worthless messages in stride (that any message may deliver).
It WILL be very interesting to see what (if any) the response will be from HRH or Carol. I applaud Greg for speaking his mind.

Greg did respond to the post that I entered on this thread earlier. His response was in a Very Civil Manner and just stated a couple of items that have happened since the start of this mess. From the Tone of his response, and I say this because Greg and I just Plain Did Not see eye to eye, I believe something Good has come out of this mess.
Anyway the Best of Luck is and was offered to him because he truly does have much knowledge to offer the collecting community.

It's one thing to try to delete a negative thread that very few have seen. But given that the post now has so many pages of response, it's obvious that a lot of people have already seen it ("the damage has been done").
If the boards delete the post now, it will only reenforce some of KenyaBuster's points and show to everyone that CU engages in censorship. My gut feeling is that CU will not want the label of "censor" and with therefore not delete the post.
Besides, if they were going to do it properly, they would have to delete that post and all the major posts that refer to it (not to mention all of its future reencarnations if they do delete it).
I agree with you that deleting threads for political reasons isn't the most effective way of dealing with contrarian political opinions. But, people do odd things when they're knee-jerking!

Can anyone imagine him returning and being taken seriously?
As for people not liking this forum because of one crazy person, I suggest they get therapy. Life is made up of all kinds of people, some nice and some not so nice. Get over over it.
I enjoyed some of his insight, but there was far too much vitriol in his posts. It also occurs to me that greg is way too invested in his dislike of HRH and PCGS.
Time for both to move on separately. Greg, let it go. It is over (hopefully). The bottom line is that this is a hobby and the negativity really should be kept to a minimum.

Why, is the KenyaBuster ID not a good name? Bet you thought it would be deactivated by now!
Seriously, I have no real desire to rejoin the forums. I felt treated very poorly and there is no reason to stay around if the company you do business with so clearly doesn't want you as a customer.
Some people say I am anti-PCGS which is completely untrue. I bet I've submitted more coins in the past year than they have ever - and I only submitted a few hundred last year.
I would like nothing more than for PCGS to address the problems that I mentioned. Whether they feel they exist or not, clearly there is a large amount of people who feel they do.
I would have liked nothing more than common courtesy by David Hall to approach me if he had a problem. You do not treat long time customers the way I was treated.
I am glad they left the post up, but as many have said, it was too late to take them down without doing more damage.
If I ever post again, it would be under my original ID.
