Awesome toning in GSA slabs

I thought I heard before GSA slabs did not have any dollars with toning because the good ones were separated out before the government slabbed them.
While searching eBay, I saw a couple - one with fabric/cloth toning -
and another with ????bag???? - cool colors - lot 167?(or 169 maybe) in the Superior sale
So what's the deal - are these real??? or AT and reglued slabs??

I can assure you that GSA's come with nice toning. I'm down to my last 300 or so.

Here you go. It's MINE I'd be surprised if it's that bright in person.
<<They only put white coins in the black holders that say "UNCIRCULATED SILVER DOLLAR". The toned coins were separated and put in the identical black holders, but they just said "SILVER DOLLAR'. At the time, toned coins were looked at as sub-standard.>>
You're correct in that MOST of the toned coins were placed in the "Silver Dollar" holders, but not all of them. I've got a number of them that are 100% toned on the obverse that are in the "Uncirculated Silver Dollar" holders. These are typically 1880-CC's. I've also found a couple (and only a couple) of 1884-CC with a small amount of toning that also went in the USD holders.
Why the 1880-CC's? I don't know. There was obviously something that took place during the sorting process that lead them to consider these coins differently. However, in the research for my book I've not found any specific mention of this particular issue.

Sorry for you guys wanting to win this one - I saw the estimate of $100-150 and had to laugh.
I'm thinking the bidding will still be fierce at $500
stman- It's all yours. I have a huge shipment arriving this week that I will need to pay for so no more buys for a while. I don't know, the image looks enhanced to me, it would be interesting to see what that coin really looks like.
You're correct. I'd say something like 99% are in the SD holders because toned 1880-CC's aren't very common. I just wanted to make the point that no ALL of them are.
Sorry, I was a scientist by training and precision was pounded into my thick skull.

Did anyone see it in person and were the greens and yellows and reds as vivid in person as the picture?
For the people that bid, could you put in prices or was it a bid next increment (and then you found out it was a few hundred dollars higher than you thought).
Sorry GSAguy, but I see you did get a bid in, agentjim was bidding until the end -
Is jrg1152 on the boards with a different handle? stman did you bid?
<< <i>For the people that bid, could you put in prices or was it a bid next increment >>
Absentee bids allowed for price bidding...during the live bidding it was next increment.
Edit to add.... while at the show Saturday I picked up a decent Gsa toner. Then another guy had one up front in a show case. It had some nice red and rainbow colors that I don't usually see on these CC Gsa's.
Well I passed on it only to call the guy on his cell phone at the show this morning and bought it. So now he has to mail it to me. Crazy, but at least he was decent and gave me the same price he quoted me at the show.
