PSA holder...CRUSHED!

Hey gang,
Just wanted to vent here....won a PSA 10 1984 Topps Lou Pinella recently on ebay. Got the card, and the holder was crushed.
I sent it off to PSA to get it reholdered, and it is now a PSA 5 (yup, that's me in the pop report with the only 5).
This explains why there are 1's to 6's on modern cards in the pop reports.
If anyone has an extra Pinella collecting dust, I'm interested!

A lesson to everyone...package the card the "right" way. I have always like the double bubble mailer method. I just reuse old bubble envelopes from purchases and put it in a slightly larger bubble mailer.

and/or a padded envelope in a larger padded envelope. It doesn't really take that much more time, and I've never had a card returned w/ a crack in it or a complaint about one. And thats well over 1000 PSA's that have been shipped. If the card arrives damaged both the buyer and seller are disappointed...jay

As a perfect Irony to my above comments about protective shipping, I just returned from my Post Office a few minutes ago and the Roger Clemens rookie was shipped unscathed and in great shape, no cracks, nicks or scratches. I haven't bought a Clemens rookie in years so apparently some knucklehead shipped this to me as a goof. It was quite funny based on the timing of my post an hour ago. I also can't believe that it was delivered and didn't end up in someone's pocket...jay

Too funny. Lol!!
Well... let me help you. It wasn't me and it sounds like it wasn't "sayitaintsojoe63."
That's 2 down.

I wish I could take credit for that one, but it wasn't me. That was pretty funny. I don't think I ever would have thought to do that. Boy, you could save a lot on shipping that way though. I wonder if the Post Office would still insure a card shipped this way? Add delivery confirmation and you'd have a lot of labels to peel off the slab.

So to get to the bottom of things, everyone send me a PSA slabbed card (PSA-8 or better - vintage preferred, players accepted Mantle, Mays, Clemente etc...) And I will go through the tedious task of process of elimination
checking and comparing postmarks & labels ...jay

That would be a lot of work for you Jay. To take some of the work off of your hands, I'd be willing to let you have half of those slabbed cards shipped directly to me (again Mantle, Mays, Clemente, etc. are good). Together, I'm sure we could get to the bottom of this.

Should you focus on shipping charges or quality shipping

did you have the shipment insured?
if so, did you get your money back?
if not, why did you not get it insured?

if not, why did you not get it insured? I am an idiot.
I've had several transactions with and without insurance, and this is the first where the item was damaged. It was just a matter of time before this type of situation arose.

Mark,
You are not an idiot. I did not mean to
even imply that you were.
In fact, if you never buy insurance and have never
had a damaged package, then the money you
SAVED by not buying insurance likely MORE than
makes up the cost lost on the card that was
damaged.
Maybe that will help.
