do you like proof red?redbrown?brown? indian cents?

comments?
for mee i like the deeply mirrored proofs which most all are!
monster toned in red brown or even brown as long as the great color and technical surface qualities are all there
then too me worth as much or more than their proof full red counterparts
now dont get me wrong REAL proof red fully red indian cents with superb technical aspects to the coin is also just as desirable for me but unfortuntaely most suppsosedly full red proof indians are not really full red! lots are ugly AND MANY full red have poor techincal aspects even though many even the "expects" consider them gem!

Deep rich browns, or purple-browns (w/no spots).... gotta love 'em.

As you know my favorite IHC proofs are BN and RB with blue or purple toning.

I like the chocolate and tan browns the most. They "look" like an IHC should look to me for some reason. The only MS60 or better IHCs I've had were RB, and I usually can't afford the RD variety, so I actually like the consistent BN coloring over the mottled RB coloring. Those colorful ones are truly cool, though!
it's a numbes thing, most casual collctors are convinced that "more red, more better". if you take the time to really look though, you will find that the most personality comes through when there is a perfect balance of (mostly) brown w/ perfectly placed red highlights that really outline the detail

Here's a nice RB where almost all of the brown (purple) is on the reverse.

My preference is for toned and/or deep mirror surface BNs and RBs. I've become very disillusioned with RDs. IMO, too many RDs are overated and over graded - the designation at high grades implies perfection or near perfection - but most RDs aren't, they are the big disappointments of the IHC world. Personally, I've been selling off many of my RDs and replacing them with super eye-appeal BN/RBs and I'm much happier and far less disappointed with my coins as I do this (both proofs and circulation strikes).
Conclusion - the beautiful toned BNs/RBs and those with the fantastic surfaces have substantially greater eye appeal for me.
that purple-passion ihc is awesome!

Purr, Purrr....................tty.
I've got a MS-65 BN of that variety - but no toning.
