Whats the story on this?

I am continuing to inventory a relative's coin collection and came across this Mint issued medal but can find no reference to it anywhere - (I probably don't know where to look). I will try to add the scan, haven't done this before.
The scan is not nearly as bright as the coin. I have two -1972 and 1973.

    There were a series of Bicentennial Medals put out by the US Mint including the one you found. I have a few with various founding fathers on them. I bought mine for a buck apiece. here are some ebay links to ones like yours:
