My 2 Cents - 1869 NGCPF65RB - Edited To Pose A Question - What Determines Obverse And Reverse?

I think these coins are really cool, especially when they are toned. Nice mirrors for an old time proof.
Anyone else care to post an image of one of theirs, proof or otherwise?

shylock made an interesting statement about this coin having two reverses. True. But what determines the obverse and reverse?
This question is probably best suited to a new thread but hopefully some enlightened responses will occur here. Hopefully.
I guess the obverse is always where "In God We Trust" resides? Of course, with no people or places on the coin, it is a little tough to decide beyond that motto.

Obverse - The front, or "heads" side of a coin. Usually the side with the date.
so how about obverse is the front and reverse is the back?
Well, the date would be a good indicator, except that it is on the reverse on State quarters...
Here are a couple: 1) NGC MS65RD; 2) PCGS PR65BN
this point is similar to discussing which side the portrait faces and why. the two-cent piece solves that with it's symmetrical shield.

We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
I've been looking at your coin for the past five minutes and I'm still wiping my chin! DAMN! That thing is beautiful!!!!!!
Here's a couple of mine:
PCGS MS62RB:
PCGS MS64RB:
The 1871 in my sig link is a PCGS MS63RB.
BTW, the motto side is the obverse. How do I know? Because I gave up trying to be sure and just decided that it was.

Anyone care to guess from whom I bought my 2 center from? Hint: He is a fellow board member.
We'll use our hands and hearts and if we must we'll use our heads.
They are all very nice.
I need to get one.

And here is the image that the Anaconda captured of the same coin.
He did an OK job, I guess.
