I responded "If my paypal account reaches its sending limit then i will stop shopping on ebay, OK
"

This from a company that has made more than a few $'s off my shopping.

Anyone else get this CRAP?

Alright! Who removed the cork from my lunch?

It probably isn't from them but some scammer trying to gain access to your account and credit card or checking information.

In my opinion that stuff gets deleted as spam, just like most of the crap I get in email.

No, it isn't a scam (well, per-se), this is Ebays'/Paypals' way of forcing you/me to give them our checking account number.

  • When I first got onboard Paypal I too, wasn't aware that they'd eventually want me to commit to a more secure relationship. Like you, they notified me to set up a bank account. I did and all's been well ever since.
When I win an auction,I always pay thru Payal with my credit card. When I sell, the proceeds are placed in my account and I immediatly transfer them to my checking account.I never let the balance in the checking acct. exceed a few hundred bucks.I understand that Paypal can tie up that account in the event of a problem. So far, so good. Twowood image

anoldgoat, It's been a few years since I joined up with Paypal but I remember at that time you could only spend up to I think $500 total before they made you become verified with a checking account if you wanted to continue using them. I am not sure if it still works this way or not. Maybe it would be best if you contacted Paypal yourself? mike

this is exactly the reason I opened a special checking account at my bank. It has had a 5.00 balance in it since day one! I don't use it for anything other than to satisfy paypal. I use my Credit card for payments and if the sellers don't take CC, I mail personal check or bank check.
  • Some sellers such as myself won't accept payment from an unverified account due to the risk of fraud. Them asking you to verify and confirm your account is S.O.P. and will not only increase your spending limit will help protect both parties involved in case there is a problem.

Just make sure the email was really from Paypal, if you can't tell just log in to your account and do it from there. There are a lot of bogus emails out there just looking for your password.

I had a $2,000 sending limit with the credit card I use for paypal. I'm getting down in the limit. Pretty soon I'll have to become verified or not use paypal at all.
