IS PCGS GRADING AS TIGHT AS BEFORE?

Here our my regrade results from PCGS AS OF November 2002:
All were in old holders I had graded in 1986
1873 PCGS 3 Cent Nick. PR-64 Regrade-- PR-65
1876 PCGS Shield Nick. PR-66 Regrade--PR-67
1884 PCGS Seat.Lib 10c MS-67 Regrade-- MS-67
1858 PCGS Seat Lib 25c MS-64 Regrade-- MS-65

NEEDLESS TO SAY I WAS PLEASED WITH RESULTS BUT DOES THIS SAY ANYTHING ABOUT GRADING STANDARDS?

Hard to say. Not seeing the coins. Nor knowing if they were first gen pieces.
I guess you can pat yourself on the back for your successful effort though!image

If they were originally graded in 1986, then they had to be in the first generation holder. Many have said that the first generation holders had a lot of upgrade candidates. Do you have pictures of the coins? They look like wonderful pieces.

Though you had to pay twice for the same work, looks like the results were very worthwhile.

Seems PCGS was quite consistent. Consistent with the upticks! image
