  • Not bad from what I can see.

I picked up an ANACS VF20 on eBay about a week back. Anxiously awaiting it's arrival.image

I like it. I assume the shiny is due to the light and the plastic.

Not as clear a picture as I would like but I would estimate a VG to possibly Fine but I would need a better picture.

    Joe.

I've asked for a better pic and return policy. It does look to be fine pending better pic of rev. but a nice looking fine.

  • You gotta really be careful buying these as some coin creeps like to take a 44-D and file off the first 4 and make it look a like genuine piece.

  • Why does the reverse look so much less worn than the obverse? I've noticed this on many Wheat Cents.

StillLurking - Very good question. I have a 1923-S that has a VF obv but narry a wheat line on back. Also have a 1910-S that has worn but full wheat lines but the obv cheek and jaw are completely worn. Poor Abe's ear is just a little hole like them aliens from Roswell.image

One thing you notice when trying to light early high grade Lincolns for imaging is how high the obverse relief is, enough to cast a decent shadow even when the lights aren't that low. With the same setup the low relief reverse gets lit very evenly, so it''s not surprising the obverse gets the brunt of the wear.
  • Early wheats were notorious for weak obverses........Ken

The ear is barely visible, the face is nearly flat, and there's very little hair detail. It looks VG to me.

Looks like there might be some wheat lines visible. If so VG10. If not, VG8.

In todays standards it would probably pull a VG-10, as goose mentioned.

Thanks for the input all. A 14 day no questions asked refund and good feedback persuaded me to take a chance.
