Late in May is what I heard.
  • Last I heard it was supposed to be later this week, but that was a couple months ago. It wouldn't surprise me to hear they moved it back.
  • Just found a story about it. I don't know how to link articles but it can be found at cointoday.com. It stated that it will be in about six-eight weeks instead of the 27th.

Just curious: what will the series be on the Snow notes? 2003? With serial numbers starting with D? And when the first colorized note is released (assuming they stick to the timetable of this fall) will the series be 2003A? With serial numbers starting with E? image

From what I have read they are supposed to come out later this year but with a Series 2004 designation.

Thanks again, Conder. I suppose that the Snow notes could be 2001A (similar to 1988 and 1988A, the last time a letter was used.) I find it curious because it looks like a different criteria is used nowadays for determining the series. Letters aren't used nearly as often as they used to be. image

The criteria used to be that the series date changed when a change was made in the design OR when both signatures changed. The date would be that of the year in which the change was authorized. If just one signature changed, either one, a letter would be added after the series date.

The current criteria is supposed to be that the series date changes when there is a design change OR when the Secretary of the Treasury changes. Letters after the series year would be used to indicate a change in the Treasurer of the United States. The series year is still supposed to be that of the year in which the change was authorized.

The new $20's are going to violate this current criteria. The change was authorized in 2002, they will be issued in 2003, with a 2004 series date!

I don't know if the issuance date has been changed or not. The design was originally supposed to be unveiled 3/27 with issuance this fall. I don't believe they've showed off the design yet but that doesn't mean they have changed the issue date as well.
