Next time include a little stick-em note instructing PCGS to get a hammer and pound the cent down to a size that'll then fit. image

(Nice submission. I don't know why- but Error Coins always look better in PCGS plastic.)

ha ha ha.......I have one that is cupped just as much as this one and it seemed to make it in one okay. Though, it did look like a tight squeeze. image

Where do you find all these, bags of cents? I assume you really wouldn't find them in rolls right?

I have not bought any errors lately, but I used to get bags of errors from a guy who owned a coin shop where I used to live. He knew a guy who worked at the bank running the counting machines. That guy would sell them to the coin dealer and I would buy them cheap. Each bag usually contained between 2,000 to 4,000 Lincoln cents, mostly dated 1999 and 2000. The dealer never wanted to search them, so he would sell them to me at a really good price and I would sit there and search them for days. I would search the same bag maybe three or four times. I usually would find something I missed the first time.

So, that is how I got all of what I have. I have been slowly but surly getting all the good ones slabbed.

Most of what was in the bags were broadstrikes. I think out of two bags I found a total of 34 on center double strikes.

I sold nearly 5,000 of these broadstrikes on eBay a couple of years ago. Sold them between 10 to 40 cents each on average. I still have 2,000 or so. When ever I sell on eBay now, I try to add a few broadstrikes to get the buyers interested in mint errors. Many times I forgot to do it though.

The New York double strike I got on eBay in a lot of so-called damaged errors. The picture was really small compared to what the seller usually did. I have a 21 inch monitor and was able to blow the picture up so I knew what it was. Other errors in that lot was a die trial piece, a double strike dime, and a neat double stike cent.

    Richard,

That's really interesting and congratulations on the grades! I assume they were from PCGS?
I asked a question on the forum a few months ago, but never got any answer: Will PCGS attribute the error coin using the Wexler system? It appears your first two have that on the holder? I've got a proof Jeff that I'd like to send in, but only if PCGS uses the Wexler error attribute.

These are actually ANACS graded coins......and yes, ANACS does do the Wexler, but I am not sure about PCGS.

May not be a bad idea to ask David Hall. They might, but I do not know.

I had forgot to mention they were ANACS coins. image I guess I thought people would hate me for saying so.

You got a picture of that die cap?
I got one that PCGS calls deep but as you can see it could go a bit deeper.
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
