Patterns in the red book?? When?? Help!

I know there was an article recently regarding patterns being included in the red book every other year. Did anyone else read that?? References would be appreciated.....I can't find the article.

Maybe in even numbered years - none in the 2003, or any of my others which all happen to be from odd-numbered years.

I don't remember the CW article saying anything other than words to the effect of "major varieties/types". I first heard about their inclusion from Mitch months before the article though...and although I don't recall anything as precise as J-XXXX numbers being discussed I do remember him mentioning several common names (could just have been speculation, but if you have plenty of free time you might want to check with him).
Mitch...if you read this I'm not trying to dis your long-windedness concerning patterns...in fact I wish there were more people who enjoyed talking about coins in general without gravitating to whatever they may have in stock at the moment.

Gemtone, I certainly hope those defiant eagles become popular.

RELLA: That is easy to do when you have nothing in stock ever as RKKAY buys them all and always makes sure you have none left at any given moment!
Without getting into the boring details, my understanding (hearsay on top of hearsay) is over the next (2) RED BOOK editions, a significant portion of the patterns will be covered.

In my old redbooks, "pattern" does not even make the index nor "Judd".
One argument is they include patterns already but do not designate them as such -> 1856 FE cent, Gobrecht dollars.
In my opinion, patterns are more significant than "private or territorial gold coins".
