Guess the Grade - PEACE DOLLAR - Grade posted

The pic is a little dark on the right hand side of the coin, but there's nothing doing on that end - the center and left hand sides of the coin have the most activity - what do you grade this? - I'll post later image

Nice coin... MS64 but is probably just short of 65. I like it. Remember, we are looking at scans and not the actual coins...

Very nice strike, lots of luster, no major marks -- I'll buck the trend on the previous lower grades and go MS65

MS 64. I don't see many bag marks. Is the coin that clean, or is it the photo?

BTW, MS-65 is very hard to achieve for a peace dollar.
  • You guys are getting pretty good!

No major marks, a good strike, and pretty gold coloring both on the obverse and reverse - the reverse really rocks with bold brilliance and a really good strike:

Overall I figured it looked too good to pass up as an MS63 - Besides it has a really pretty gold patina - and you guys know what a sucker I am for dirty coins! image

you was robbed... but then again, we were looking at scans and not the actual coin. I still like it.

Well - the coin was graded a while ago - I'd say I got a pretty coin pretty cheap! image
  • I was first.

Not to create any problems, but I am not so sure anyone was really wrong with their thoughts on this one.

  • The mountian was a dead give away. Almost all 65`s would be completely frosted. Very few 64`s would be frosted. At least that`s been my experience.

Edit to add I agree that it was mostly guess work. Being one of the toughest Dollars to grade. So it was basicly a coin toss between a 63 or 64.

Thanks for the tip - good eye! image
