Great Ebay Jefferson Snag!

1944-P Jeff in NGC MS66FS.
With Jeffs to make an NGC FS you need 6 steps. I recently sold my PCGS 66FS (5 steps) for ~$300 so getting this coin for under $70 is a score.
My proxy bid was over $200
At NGC its a POP 13/1

Brian.
no doubt you did well with regard to the steps in an NGC holdered Jefferson. my experience with the series in their holders is that they are a bit liberal with the numerical grade they assign. for that reason i only search NGC holdered FS coins for dates which are difficult in a PCGS or ANACS holder and all but impossible for me to find raw.
checking the scan at eBay isn't very helpful for deciding anything about the coin aside from the fact that it's a jefferson and certainly looks to be dated 1944!!! why in the world some sellers insist on posting such poor quality pics is beyond my comprehension. regarding the price, i'm at a loss as to why the silver Jefferson's sell at the levels you mentioned, $300. IMHO a 66FS for that date is a $70 coin. for kripe sake, it's a pop 75!!!! i used to chart the war year sales but quit because they are offered so often.
