Rate third party holders see new poll on this subject

I know this has been done before, but I got my very SEGS coin and I absolutely love the holder.

Who do you think has the best third party coin holder on the market today? And Why?

The SEGS one is hefty but light. It has the mintage number on the insert and the insert wraps around so that you can see what coin you have and the grade from the top! The bar code is one the back. The body is mostly opaque which hides scratches well.

Can someone set up a poll??

The segs holder seems to be the most user friendly.
I've had a lot of ANACS holder not fully sealed.

My favorite is SEGS, it fits the hand well, they have the top read label so when you look in the box you know immediately which "Slab-to-Grab", and the opaque color actually highlights the coin.

But what about IGAs holder? I know, they grade for chyt, but you can see everything. Opinions?

I believe that for different coins, different holders are the "right" ones. An early half dollar with some fairly large scratches that would not be holdered by PCGS or NGC was discussed in this thread:

    1801 half in SEGS holder

and I agree that SEGS makes a pretty nice holder, attractive, smooth hand feel, coin ID on top, practically indestructable. For smaller "problem" coins, say the size of a quarter or smaller, the ANACS holder is pretty nice, although I think the type is a little dated looking and could be modernized.

Of course, for GEM, Premium coins, there's nothing like a new PCGS holder. For attractively toned coins, I think the white NGC holder shows the coin off pretty well. PCI is a good if you intend to break the coin out (its pretty easy) and you can sometimes get a decent coin at a decent price in a PCI or NTC holder, if you're really careful. I think the ACG holder is amatuerish looking and the grading horrible, and very rarely do I see a coin in an ACG holder that I would want to own, even cracked out.

I do have a smattering of older PCGS and NGC holders, and I like them for their quaintness and for the history that they capture.

  • IMO, the best holder is the ICG. This holder has the intercept shield, no other service has this. IMO, number two is NGC, toned coins look good in them. Three would be PCGS, IMO, small coins don't seen to get lost in the inner liner.

Looking for Nationals, Large VF to AU type, 1928 Gold, and WWII Emergency notes. Also a few nice Buffalo Nickels and Morgan Dollars.

I forgot ICG, yes, they have a good holder, I like the finger translucent plastic and the finger grips, don't care too much for the green insert, would prefer light grey or very light blue.

IGA used a certificate. I've seen two different IGA holders. One was a vinyl wallet with the certificate in a pocket and the coin in a flip type pouch, the other was a vinyl page arrangment with three sections. One for the certificate, one for the coin, and one for a company identification label.
