    The funny thing is that alot of new collectors mistake the poor strike quality for wear and call them AU.
    It leaves more gems for the rest of us.image

    I hate it on later years when you have a gem obverse and then the shield has scuff marks on the reverse.

    I agree, the shield seems to just attract those scuff marks.

    New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

  • Almost looks like tick marks on the shield were part of the design. And if you get a decent shield, seems that the tail feathers are going to be ugly. Can't ever find both clean.
