Let's all remember our forum members who are now engaged in conflict or in trouble spots, whether they are military personnel, journalists, diplomats, etc., or relatives of those who are now in harm's way.

I know that this thread is OT, but I hope that the admins will allow this to stay a bit in the U.S. Coin Forum because this is where we've gotten to know each other.

Whatever our religious upbringing, let's sincerely hope that they all come back here safe and sound -- and soon!

For what it's worth, I feel confident that Iraq will not launch any chemical or bio weapons at our troops. To do so would validate our military action against them, and perhaps even unify world opinion against them. And, it opens the door for an American response.

Our doctrine does not differentiate between the different types of weapons of mass destruction. Bio, chem, nuke -- they're all lumped together to us. If the Iraqis dare to use chem or bio weapons against us, by God they better worry about our using tactical nukes in response. Their troops would have ZERO chance of surviving, even if they wanted to surrender. And, their civilian leaders would be hunted for the rest of their lives.

I believe that the Iraqi leaders are bad men, but they're not irrational and certainly not stupid.

and for those of you that have not had the pleasure of War..... It is Hell. Here is the hope extended to all involved with this that they will return safe of body and mind. My deepest regrets go out to family members that must endure the problems of War also.

May all come out of this in fine shape.

"Saddam does not represent us; he is an agent of the West, and it is time for those who put him there to take him out."

There is a lot of anti-Saddam sentiment amongst the Iraqi-Americans. That makes sense, since they probably left their country because of the oppression.

My fear is, in a last defiant effort, Saddam launches a chemical or biological warhead at Israel. They have an old score to settle with him from the Gulf War, and the Israeli's NEVER forget, and ALWAYS get even, sooner or later. If Saddam is insane enough to attack Israel, Bagdad will be incinerated.

Thanks EVP. I am not over there for this one but my son is in kuwait. He is in a construction unit. We heard from him last week for the first time and sure we won't here from him till it's over. Bless all the defenders of freedom. It was said best the other night by a Paul Harvey " It's your right to be against the war but it's your duty to back the troops when they have to fight for your freedoms" godsped and god bless all

Hey, I'm on board, but I woould it extend this "rememberance" to every single American involved, with the exception of the protestors. It boggles my mind that these people are out in droves (albeit small in the grand scheme of things) publicly opposing those sacrificing their lives, voluntarily or under orders. How soon they forget.

Will somebody in the vicinity slap the hell out of Tom Daschle for me?

I think I know how you feel regarding the protestors. But, there are a couple of things to keep in mind. First, that many of the folks who are against the war still want our service people to be safe. They merely disagree with a political matter and do not feel that our military people are to blame. (I said "many" because I do know that many protestors can get too emotional and wrongly blame the troops.)

Second, I would ask that one of the hallmarks of this country is our opportunity for dissent. I think the importance of this aspect is not lost on those who would put their lives in danger to defend this very principle.

I have friends and church members over there right now. A lot of people from my old guard unit are over there as well. I hope they all return safely!!!
I don't mind the protesters. But when I see Americans burning the American flag on TV, it makes my blood boil. They would never try that down here where I live.
