New Toned Morgan & Columbian Expo

Care to guess the grade on this Morgan? Hint: I bought the coin not the slab.

I grade the Morgan P6.5 (Pretty 6.5). That's my own personal WAG system because I can't grade Morgans worth a damn.image

Good for you Lori. With a little hard work some great coins, with lots of eye appeal, can be found in 2nd or 3rd tier holders. Let those too good to own another holder collectors walk on by those coins. You do your assessment and snatch 'em right up!

I like the colors! I can't see anything, mark-wise, within the obverse color, so I will assume there are no problems there. The cheek area is shadowed and I can't see if there is any chatter there. Anyway, I'll give the coin a MS-65.

    Morgan - MS64. Nice pick-up.

Columbian Expo - I like those Columbian Expo Commeratives. Seems to me alot of them are toned.
  • For the couple that guessed, here is the answer.

It is in an ACG slab and graded MS64

Here was the auction photo that shows the color a bit lighter. It is an awesome Morgan.

  • I wonder if ACG considers that a typo or not.image Either way, considering their reputation, it`s a good example of " Buy the coin, not the slab " .
