How to tell if slab was tampered with?

BarryBarry Posts: 10,100 ✭✭✭
I just received a coin from an Ebay purchase in an ANACS slab. The edges of the slab seem a little rough and irregular, and I wonder if the slab was cracked and glued. I've cracked some ANACS slabs myself, and they usually split very cleanly. I may send it to ANACS for verification, but before I do, anyone have any tips on what exactly to look for to confirm my suspicions?

no idea here. oddly, the coins are missing from every 1 of my slabs, indicating they've all been tampered with. image

I believe that if you call ANACS they will tell you how to check for tampered with slabs by the way the slab flexes.

I called ANACS. All they said was I can send it in for inspection and reholdering at their regular fees...

look at the coin: is it of the coin and grade on the slab? if the coin looks overgraded, then maybe the slab has been tampered with. if the date or mintmark are wrong, then more probably image
