1974 Topps PSA 8 and 9

Appears action has recently really picked up in the Psa 8 and 9 for the 1974 Topps set . Brian (The Dogs of 74 Set ) Had some really stellar results on EBay tonight . A lot of PSa 8 's going for way above book and some very strong prices for PSA 9's . Congrats Brian.... Anyone know who prtheshiningstar (ebay id) or bballjunkie(ebay id) are? Does they have sets registered? Here is the link to the results

Wow, those are some strong results for 8s. Many of mine closed for the $5.99 minimum. Goes to show how important it is to have the right cards listed at the right time.
  • Jeff,
Thanks. A great night indeed. The prtheshiningstar(ebay id) is either a new player in 74s or somebody using an alias.(could it be wetzel or wayne?)just kidding. This set is really starting to take off.
I find myself having a hard time winning 74s with all the competition out there. The other guy you mentioned bbcardjunkie has a set registered and seems to be a real nice guy.I believe he is going after the whole set and is moving at a good pace.

  • It wasn't me. I couldn't even figure out an alias for my user name here.image I many times bid way too much and I'm not even in the top 2-3 bids here lately. Gemint - you're right - it just depends on which card is up for auction.

  • Wayne,

Noticed you had bought a few PSA 8 's lately before you were looking to complete the set in straight 9 or better? Have you rethought that or are you just trying to fill out the set and upgrade later?

I have about 12 or so 1974's up on ebay and until last night, none had any bids. I did ok on some others I sold but I thought lately hasn't been too impressive.
  • Jeff,

I own quite a few psa 8's but I haven't added them to my set yet. I just want to see how far I can get without adding the 8's but eventually I will.

    Wabitwax,

The compeitition on the low pop cards is fierce but once all of the main collectors have bought a card it does good to even get grading fees back.

  • I liked the prices, so I listed a 1974 PSA 9 Ryan.
