The edge of a coin or the "third side" as it is commonly referred to, can be dented or damaged or even mis-colored by handling in some way. Does PCGS take the edge of coins into consideration when grading?? Can it affect the overall grade by a lot??

Mark...The edge is taken into consideration. In fact, as far as bag marks go, the edge is probably second most important to to face, or major obverse device. A significant edge cut/bump/dent is a major negative.
