Would extremely hot water and a mild detergent like dawn remove these prints without damaging the coin? I know there have been alot of fingerprint issues recently, but I can't imagine that a degreasing agent absent of strong chemicals wouldn't correct these problems. I've seen to much talk on acetone and carbon tetrachloride which would almost certainly remove luster from silver coins. {Silver coins contain other alloys that do not react well to strong chemicals}

If it were that easy, our jails wouldn't be as crowded.
