Has anyone kind of lost the will to post this past week?

danglendanglen Posts: 1,674 ✭✭✭
Don't know about anyone else, but I for one just don't seem to have the same interest in participating I used to have. I find myself "surfing" the various forums, reading the posted threads, but just don't seem to have the desire to get involved. Something seems to be missing, and if this doesn't get any better, I guess it might be me image Is anyone else experiencing the same malaise?

    As one who has seen BBS shakeups that make this minor tremor barely a blip, the answer would be no. It is the nature of forums that as they grow and change, sh!t happens. Strangely, though, life goes on and, in the grand scheme of things, it really amounts to nothing.

    Yes, to some degree but a respite isn't always a bad thing.

    I guess this place used to be a free for all and now it's "some things can get you booted"...which has some kind of a chilling effect but the very truth of the matter is that David Hall isn't going to start booting people off the forum unless their behavior is clearly in violation of the bounds of common sense. If you are reasonbable in your behavior, you have nothing to fear. At least that's my impression.

    I'm relieved to see that I'm not alone in feeling the way I do. It's not that I'm afraid of getting booted for what I post, it's more of a feeling that my heart's not in it. I agree with Russ that in the overall scheme of things, this is no big deal, and intellectually I agree with him, but it still doesn't really change the way I feel image Oh well, this too shall pass.........image

    I have not lost the will to post, but I have lost the will to live.

    My wife has strapped me to a board and hired local teenagers to carry me from room to room around the house. I don't have the desire to walk on my own anymore.

    I dictate my posts to my wife. She is actually the one typing this right now. (It's true! Hello from Mrs. Clankeye! Gosh is he depressed! I bought a new dress, thoughimage)

    I am too tired and morose to continue to talk right now. Sigh. I fear The Big Expiration Date may be at hand.

    I somewhat agree with Dan. I am not motivated to post here much, and I also agree with Keith in that my visits here are signifcantly less frequent.

    I'm sorry to see that some of the regulars that we used to have on here have gone - but I'll continue to post and participate. I think what we have lost is a lot of experience that - whether it was well worded or not - was still valuable.

    I feel somewhat deflated from :

    1) having witnessed, what appeared to be the unfair expulsion of Greg. I say "unfair" because, as far as I know, it was without warning and, regardless of what anyone thought of his style, he had acted perfectly consistently all along and was a valuable contributor here;

    2) seeing certain forum members who were previously friendly, attack each other over some of this stuff. That bothers me a great deal more than the typical flaming that goes on here;

    3) seeing the community split up and some of the synergy lost, as a result.

    That said, I plan to remain, reading, posting and enjoying the company - most of it, anyway. image And, I am as determined as ever, to speak my mind in a straight forward and honest fashion.

    It definately has a different 'feel' to it...and not for the better IMO. I think the wide open style was what made it 'edgy' and interesting even if not agreeable or politically correct. At the risk of oversimplifying and by way of example only...its kind of like the difference between watching an interview being done by Bill O'Reilly vs. one done by Larry King. Some prefer the latter, I prefer the former.

    Ive been feeling kind of morose and kranky lately. I believe it will pass and we all will get

    back to what goes for normal in this place. It will take some time, but as long as our families

    are safe, there is food in the house, gas in the car and the rent or mortgage is paid for the month,

    then I guess the important things are covered.

    I also think war jitters put everyone a little on edge, apart from developments here. . . .

    Yes, that's for sure. I have never visited any of the other boards, but am now becoming a member of a few. The events of the past week have left a foul taste, and the lack of any action from Mr Hall is not helping. I guess I will also get over this, but I will not forget.image

    Funny thing, I looked at one of the boards a lot of people have been hyping-and the first thread I clicked on there was all the trouble makers from this board having a flaming thread.

    I did for several days, and it was for many reasons. First, someone here got on my nerves to the point where if I didn't leave, I was going to get ugly and I didn't want to get into a situation like that again. Second, I am not very happy with PCGS customer service, and figured people had heard enough of that. Third, HRH's new board policy seemed vague to me, with no real clear concept of what is considered "bagging on PCGS". Fourth, I have been preparing for Charlotte, and I have been quiet busy.

    Anyhow, I am feeling better now, so I'm back. And leaving for Charlotte in the morning.

    uhhhhhhhhhh......everyone is just working on their tax papers and getting ready to send them to me!!!!

    April 15th is not far away!!!!!!!

    As far as this board, I have not changed my style or approach to praising or criticizing PCGS or David Hall. He knows I have been frank with him at all times yet as a stockholder of CLCT , I have always had the best interests of PCGS/CLCT at heart.

    As far as what happened in the past few weeks, I believe David may have lost a little bit of his cool for just a few hours. Heck, he even admitted as such. But no one is perfect! We all snap at our wonderful spouses, children, peers, and friends and even clients every so often. We expect David Hall to be perfect? Hardly. He is just as flawed as I am!! I expect nothing less!!!

    But to condemn him is another matter altogether. But I expect some positive changes by David with respect to theses coin forums and to clarify the nature of the "suspension" of certain individuals. I also expect nothing less from him in that regard either.

    I know I haven't posted much on this forum, but I've developed several friendships through the open forum and the TNA shows. This place is still a convenient way to keep in touch with them. That's really about all anymore.
