Say what you may about ACG, but...

you got to give it to them, they are more consistant than any other service out there.

I have been told this by a few dealers, and thought it would be an interesting thread.

Flame away!

Why would anyone flame you for telling the truthimage so what if the coins you send it are overgraded but chances are you get the same grade every time unlike another service i know that starts with PCG. from that place i have heard of coins going from an MS-64 to a body bag then it becomes an AU-58 not real professional grading if you ask me
  • No flame here, they are consistant. Constitantly wrong, but still consistant! image

At the show in Minneapolis this past weekend a dealer freind had an acg. slab indian in 65 red brown. From the view from the case the coin looked great so i asked to examin it and i just about fainted, it was a nice coin for the grade. I decided to pass because i din't want to support acg, but another dealer saw my reaction to the coin and asked to see it. So before the dealer could put the coin back in his display case, this other dealer paid full above grey sheet retail for it! I asked him why and he said he buys coins, not the holders [i know thats true, but full retail for accugrade ??? The dealer responded by asking me if i thought the coin was graded fairly and i said i thought it was. He said see, even accugrade can make a mistake now and then, they got it right. LOL

folks get too worked up about this plastic or that plastic. if you like the coin, BUY IT. the holders are disposable.

    To all of you:

Have you REALLY seen enough ACG coins to have an opinion as to their consistency? Speaking for myself, I've seen enough to know that their style of grading is WAY looser than mine or PCGS' or NGC's, but I really can't say if they're consistent.

Went to a local coin show this weekend (you know the same crappy dealers and the same crappy coins), well one of the dealers had a table full of Accucrap slabs. He had 2 MS66 1953-S FBL Franklins. I had to take a look, one they were not MS66s, but the whole left side of the bell line was not there. I offered him $10 (I was going to buy it and send it to LucyBop as a joke). He informed me that the 53-S FBL franklin was worth $50,000 in a 66FBL, but he would let it go for $5,000! What a deal it thought, and offered him $15. He told me to F&^K OFF! Sorry Lucy no MS66 1953-S FBL for you...
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

dude, i've looked at probably thousands of coins that just happened to be in acg holders. i treat it like any other slab. if i like the coin, i buy it. case closed. there's no quibbling for me whether it's in this holder, that holder, or a cardboard flip, it's still a coin. the plastic is just noise that you can ignore, should you choose to do so
