I picked the Morgan. I know everyone has their personal preference, but it's easier for me to find a Morgan that "blows me away" than any other dollars. I have a particular intrest in Cameo'd DMPL's and rainbows.
Well, that is a very tough question (for a person that likes specializing in dollars, it is kind of like asking, which child is your favorite).
Nothing exhibits Americana and just the sheer power like a large dollar. Since the Morgan dollar will overwhelmingly win this poll, I chose the freckled red-haired stepchild (i.e. Ike) as it is the dollar that I grew up with, spent and did not take seriously until about 10 years ago (and very very seriously about 5 years ago). It may be bald, it maybe ugly, but quite a few went through my hands in commerce AND it was the last of the large dollars.
I just moved the Trade Dollar into a tie for 2nd place.
The common, can find them in every collection, Morgan is currently number 1. Words from Rick Tomaska that convinced me to turn my attention to Cameo/DCAM.
I don't see my favorite listed! I prefer the Federal Reserve Note ONE DOLLAR BILL. Why? Because I can carry 20 of them in my wallet without discomfort. They are guaranteed by the government to be legal tender for all debts, public and private. They don't cause problems when given to lackwit cashiers and are readily available from my local banks.
I chose the sac. I don't understand why it is so maligned. It is by far the most beautiful coin in circulation in the US in the last fifty years. As for the large dollars, the Peace dollar is the most beautiful design both obverse and reverse. While the morgan is blessed with a stunning obverse, the reverse is rather clunky, don't you think?
1. Draped Bust: elegant hair, facial feature, and......bust 2. Flowing Hair: 1st American silver dollar 3. Morgan: classic Greek-like face 4. Goldbrecht: seated Liberty looks tired, but reverse flying eagle is beautiful 5. Trade: better looking seated Liberty 6. Liberty seated 7. Peace: can't get used to the face, too concave; looks like she's about to cry ( sorry Peace lovers ) 8. Ike: modern 9. Sac: ugly 10. SBA: ugliest
I had to look up Red book to answer this one. I have Morgans, Peace and Seated dollars, but I have never seen some of the early ones. I like the looks of the Draped Bust Dollar with the small eagle the best. Now I need to buy one
Voted Seated Liberty, but it was so close to the Bust dollar I couldn't really make up my mind. In fact, I think I should have voted for the Bust dollar.
I guess I was remembering past coins I've owned, and my best Seated dollar (a toned EF40, though I had a scuffy AU50, too) was far prettier than my best Bust dollar (a typical-quality VG8).
If we're just talking about OBVERSES, then for me it's Flowing Hair all the way. But I like the Heraldic Eagle reverse much more than the one dubbed by 18th century Americans as the "scrawny eagle."
I must say, though, that you sure picked a nice Flowing Hair dollar to illustrate your post!!!

However, I'll always have a real soft spot for Peace dollars, too.

I unfortunately (due to cost) like the Draped Bust dollar the most.
