Grading companies and the Baltimore show.

I tried to upgrade one PCGS coin at the show and was not successful. However, the PCGS booth was by far the busiest booth at the show. ANACS also appeared to be very busy. (I bought a ANACS Bugs Bunny Franklin in MS64 very nice). NGC left fairly early on Saturday. I guess they figured they got the bulk of their business on Friday and Saturday morning. ICG was dead, as was the NTC table. I don't remember seeing any other companies there. I sat with a friend while he submitted to PCGS and ANACS. In both cases, the people were very friendly and fun to talk to as well. One dealer I talked to had about a 10% success in upgrade tries at PCGS. Not to bad I would say. He put in 67 coins and 7 upgraded. At least one was a very, very significant upgrade. I don't know how other dealers did. I did get a PCGS MS68 99D Kennedy from Wondercoin that was graded at the show. It is superb. If you like Kennedys.
In spite of the bad press, (I feel) that PCGS has been getting, dealers and collectors still seem to prefer them. I will say that I saw a lot of NGC stuff in cases, and even bought a couple NGC Frankies myself. mdwoods
