  • I've used MS70 on a number of coins and if done carefully it didn't appear to cause them any harm. Just make sure as with
any cleaning solution to rinse and dry carefully. The most danger to the coins I've found when using this is having them
slip through my fingers as this stuff is incredibly slippery.

  • If your using enough to make the coin that slippery your using too much. I use a very little so i don't disturb the reeding, that I want to stay dark and original.

AJim, What method do you use to insure proper rinsing of the MS70?

  • I just brush it on with a qtip or cotton ball. I think what happens is I get the solution on my fingers when wetting a cotton
ball and it is slip city from there. I often get acetone on my hands which has the exact opposite effect. As time has gone
on I've been getting neater about the mess.

  • The fact I use so little doesn't make rinsing a problem. I get the faucet running with good force with warm to almost hot water. I rinse for a pretty long time. Then i take a regular terry cloth towel and press the coin inbetween. NO RUBBING JUST SQUEEZE. then i move the coin to another dry part of the towel and press again. It works great and PCGS does slab 'em,
  • If you put enough on the q-tip to saturate all the cotton then it's too much. When I use it the MS70 only saturates half the q-tip cotton end. Rub it on very gentley. Cotton will not scratch the coin especially with that slippery stuff on it. Paint it on. If you find out you missed a spot do it again but leave it on for as short as possible but it's not a race take your time. WARNING make sure the coin is new, MS70 makes evey hairline show if your coin turns out to be a slider.
  • Great post, AJ007,

Where is the best place to by MS70? Are there considerations on the types of metals on which it can be used (copper/brass/silver/gold, etc)?
  • Someone use to post a link to Stanton's supplies (i think thats the name) but I've seen it sold on e-bay. I've used it on silver gold and copper.
  • Thanks, fellows!
