Storing Coins

I want to properly store my coins. I bought mylar and poly bags. Is it ok to store a coin by placing it in the poly bag and then placing it in the mylar flip for long term storage? Any other suggestions if this is not a good long term idea? I want to protect them because right now their just stacked one on top of the other in a box and over time I think their getting destroyed.

  • I'm a big fan of the intercept shield. I've been using those to store my slabbed coins and so far I've been very happy with them. Also, if you purchase them from Wayne Herdon, you get a message board member discount.

  • I guess since I already purchased the flip and poly bags I'm just wondering if I'm damaging them by storing them in the poly bag and mylar flip.
  • If the poly bags and mylar flips are the basic requirement (hopefully they are PVC-free) you can get 2x2 boxes or even NGC & PCGS boxes to put them in to organize, better store and protect.

If you do not have a safe, I would suggest a closet or storage area where the temperature is as constant as possible. Finally, I would suggest some dessicant near where the coins are stored, to help grab the moisture out of the air.
