To the Owners of this Message Board, how to correct a wrong...

Dear PCGS,
I must offer my opinion here, as this is bugging me.
It is fine to implement a policy regarding what kinds of posts are acceptable. And once the policy is announced, hold everyone to it. Fair enough. But to concurrently announce the policy and ban people based on the policy at the same time is a mistake.
I think you could admit you acted a bit hastily in this regard, apologize, reinstate the banned and then enforce it from here on out. No one could then quibble with that.
You would be applauded if you just said, OK, we goofed, and correct this wrong.
Sincerely,
TJennings

isn't there something in the constituiton about no ex post facto laws?
In the US, you can't make something illegal, and then arrest anyone who's ALREADY DONE it.
I know that PCGS isn't bound by the Constitution, but how about honoring the coinstitution?

<< <i>When we got passwords, we all clicked "I Agree". So it is not ex post facto. PCGS just started to enforce the already existing rules. Still I would like evil Greg back. Perhaps he should take the initiative.

Greg has said that Carol refused to answer his concerns but referred him to David Hall--about closing time Friday afternoon!
It's time to reinstate him.
It's also time to reinstate Derrick.

Now, I am a stockholder of CLCT so that makes me one of the owners of this message board. So what do I think given that I now discover that Greg, who I happen to like very much, is one of the banned posters??
OK here goes....
(1) I absolutely still agree that HRH still made the correct decision in announcing and enforcing the rules. Now whether they are new or exisiting rules is something I have not investigated.
(2) I still firmly endorse the right of PCGS to ban "offenders" from posting to this board, however to be reasonable about it and to give "offenders" a clue that they are on the wrong path, I suggest the following changes.
.......(A) First offense, a warning.
.......(B) Second offense, a 10 day suspension with of course, another warning explaining the rules and levels of punishment.
.......(C) Third offense, a 30 day suspension with of course another warning explaining the rules and levels of punishment.
.......(D) Fourth offense, a 1 year suspensionm with of course more written notifications about the rules, etc.
.......(E) Fifth offense, a lifetime ban.
(3) Allow the "offender" to appeal in case of error or mistake, etc.
This gives PCGS the ability to get back posters into good graces who are willing to and "get the clear message" that they need to "reform" themselves enough to play by the rules of this board without running into a "Pete Rose" situation in which a life time ban is announced and then many years of suffering goes on for the punisher and punishee (Rose and MLB) for no good damn reason.
Now, I suspect as an owner of CLCT, I will have to plead for my friend Greg and to fight to have these rules put into effect retroactively to give PCGS the power to enforce their rules but yet give offenders a chance to "clean up" their act.
I firmly believe that HRH will fully endorse my suggestions especially if he is a fan of Pete Rose!!! I will call this rules the "Charley Hustle Rules"
Bring Greg (Charley Hustle) back!

<< <i>It's just plain rude to go to someone's house as a guest and start complaining about the service, especially in front of the other guests. If someone did that to me they would be escorted right out the front door! When you look at it this way, it makes sense.y/n? >>
If you pay for PCGS services, you're not a guest, you're a customer. The customer may not always be right, but should always be heard.

This message board is compliments of PCGS. When you come here to communicate with other collectors you are not a customer.....you are a guest, they don't charge anything to be able to post here. There was an ageement we all clicked on "I accept" when we signed up to post on this board. Maybe some people need to re-read the terms they agreed to abide by........

instead of wringing our collective hands and listening to the wailing and gnashing of teeth, why not just get back to coins???
i'm off to a show in Kent, Ohio. the freedom of speech everyone wants to bandy about here was excercised to a tragic conclusion there in my youth. perhaps we should consider that all freedoms have limitation. freedom to do and say as i please is not unlimited and without consequence. i can't yell fire in a crowded theatre and the right to swing my fist ends at the end of your nose!!
have a nice day and good coin discussions. i'll say Hi to quarterjack for y'all and let you know what sweet coins i track down.
life is too good to get mired in this forums sometimes depressing BS mode!!!

this summer i hear the drumming

Here for a moment, and then, suddenly, gone for an eternity. That is the way of the universe.
Oh well, old posters never die, they just fade away.
NiceCoinVille seems to be evolving into a rather sweet, sleepy place. I think I'd rather be in Philadelphia.
Criticism can be handled by most people as long as a little respect for that person is shown. Really now do you folks believe any respect was shown in the posts that brought this occurance to its final outcome ?
Let me add one other little tid bit. For some of you that have not been around here very long atleast one warning was given to atleast one of the persons mentioned here. For the rest of you that have been here I guess your loyality to the persons in question blinds you to the fact this has happened.
It is a shame the people have been banned as a lot of knowledge has been lost for the collectors involved with this forum. My take is that the agenda taken by the banned participants was not for the good of collectors but for the good of thier own pocket book. As for the people returning to these boards why dont you go take a look at some of the other forum sites and see what is being said there.

I have spent most of my life dealing with the CEOs and Presidents of large business. Most will not change a decision once it is put in place and will give it lots of time to see just how it works out. (right or wrong).
Not standing on a decision can be seen as a sign of weakness. This is something most CEOs can not afford.
After time is given for the heat to go down and the real results to surface a change can be made and less will notice. A little time for this to cool might give David a way out of this mess.
Glad I'm on the sidelines and not having to make these decisions. Being a CEO in todays world is not always a fun job.
Please don't take my post as being on anyones side. I don't have one.
Here's a warning parable for coin collectors...
I've asked and asked and all I get is a sympathy plea! Reminds me of the Stuppler thread!
ASSUME TOO MUCH! Let's have them list their sides with a no reply thread and let us stew on it awhile!
Then post a poll for a yes or no vote on return and follow guidelines!
If Greg returns, fine! Yet more often it appears he has given more snide remarks and has not tried to help or answer certain questions. I believe he feels a majority are inferiors and above his level! Even HRH and CU!
NEVER LET HIPPO MOUTH OVERLOAD HUMMINGBIRD BUTT!!!

My vote is it sould be up to the member who gets booted. not just the guy we make a living for.
it true if it wasn't for collectors you won't have a busness.
Dave get a clue we (you and us) made PCGS what it is today. please don't flush it all away.
or are you so vain you think you did it without us collectors.
I hate it when you see my post before I can edit the spelling.

wrong but not quite as vocal. No one deserves an apology, but let's
hope Greg can be reinstated. He may well not come around as much
if he is but it would go a long way toward putting this behind us.
The problem with "trolls" slamming dealers, coins, services, ideas, and
coin related things isn't going to go away. People here are too pass-
ionate and tenacious to abandon beliefs even when there is little just-
ification for holding them and far less for stating them. ..over, and over,
and over.
Perhaps more warnings and moderation will help.
Please bring Gmarguli back!
As far as the collectors making PCGS? It would seem to me that massive dealer submissions from 1986 to well into the 1990's made both NGC and PCGS what they basically are today.
