Offer photos of a photo of the coin and a write up regarding the coin, but DON'T actually show the coin.

I would have included the scan of the coin if I were him, especially with a feedback number of -14-.

    Slab # checks out.
    COIN INFORMATION
    Date, mintmark: 1856
    Denomination: 1C
    Variety: Flying Eagle
    Grade: MS64

I would have thought he would put a picture of the actual coin also.
It is not exactly cheating, I prefer to consider it creative problem solving!!!

The million dollar question is.......does this seller with 14 feedbacks actually have this $21k coin?
Change that we can believe in is that change which is 90% silver.
  • Judging from his feedbacks he has sold 14 items that range from $25 to $500, just seems like to much coin for this seller to be selling. What he is showing looks like one of those TV replica coins.

I personally know the seller of that coin. It is a shop here in Houston, the coin is in the hands of a collector. They are 100% legit and I will vouch for them. They are a little behind the times when it comes to computers and from a little of my encouragement and others that go into their shop they finally started listing coins on Ebay. I almost bought the coin myself for resale. no worries.
  • The good thing is that if you buy it, you only need to send a picture of money as payment.
    I have icon envy.

The seller has now posted images of the actual coin. It is on consignment, and when first asked to list it, he didn't yet have images.

If JB says they are legit, that's good enough for me. mdwoods

Tough coin - allegedly PCGS won't be "making" any more 1856 MS coins. They are going to be grading them all either proof or possibly "specimen". Looks like a nice coin at a fair price. There's another for sale on the web for 25k.

    Lakesammman, jbstevens or anyone else,

Can you tell if this is a legit MS or a proof misattributed as MS due to die condition? Which Snow number (1-9) is it?

Without a closeup, I can't really tell. I'll email the seller and ask for more details.

    wayne:

I know it is in a ms holder but I have not seen the coin nor do I know that much about them. I do know that the seller will have a scan soon. Send them a email and they will respond.

If I see the coin on Tuesday or wednesday I will report what I see and know.

edited to add here are the photos
