The Merc Registry from One Year Ago

CocoinutCocoinut Posts: 2,515 ✭✭✭✭✭
In another thread, Mark had mentioned that it would be fun to see the Merc Registry from a year ago to check out all of the changes that have occurred. I had just added 4 coins to my set on March 15, 2002, and printed the Registry standings. I photographed the 2 page report, and you can click on the links below to view them.

There were only 41 Merc sets a year ago. That was before there was a separate set for varieties.

After 1 year, and many thousands of $$ spent on additions and upgrades, I've moved from 11th place to ....... 10th.imageimage My % of completion has gone from 53% to 86% at the same time. Actually, after factoring in the varieties sets, I'd be in 14th place now.

All you "old-timers" from 2002: check out your sets and tell us how you've fared in the past year. It'll be interesting to see the results.
Countdown to completion of my Mercury Set: 1 coin. My growing Lincoln Set: Finally completed!

That is very cool. To put it in slang that Lucy would approve, "those jpgs are a real blast from the past." I printed your jpgs so that I can have them for future reference.

Now, let's see: The Positron Collection has moved the most--from 35 to 3! Some collections have moved to the variety set, but a few collections have disappeared. Fatrat 50's is now gone. I mention that collection because the name always intrigued me.

Jim mentioned how he moved up. Let's see, I, too, spent thousands of dollars (clearly fewer than Jim!) over the last year and moved down from 12 to 15. Boy, as I said before, Merc collectors are ruthless!

Thanks much for the jpgs and the trip down memory lane.

Changed the Set Name in this period and here is the report card..

    2002....87% Complete....Grade Point 64.2....Position #4.

After thousands spent and just all kinds of enjoyment with the search 2003 looks like this.

    2003....87% Complete....Grade Point 65.9....Position #6

Did not check where I would be by the older standard but I suppose somewhere around the same place.

Jim Thanks for the Info and now you are our Official Historian. Keep Up the Good Work within your New Position. image

  • Neat Jim.

I remember first registering my set and being surprised that it debuted @ #9. I didn't realize it's been that long.
I also remember being passed right away by you and Mark, and then later Al. image
After all this time (which doesn't seem long at all) and $(which seems even more. LOL), my set's up 1 notch, like your's, and I'm still "battlin'" Mark & Pat and now Wayne just to stay out of the "teens"! LOL

    Thanks for the compare! image

    edit to ask:
Anyone else notice the discrepancy in the set ratings? Must have been before weigthing? image

    Hi y'all,

Al, If I was to develop a short, it would cause me to blow a fuse, which would make my headlights and blinkers both go out, then how would you guys keep track of me in the dark?

Don, Sorry about the brights in your rear view mirror, didn't know it was bothering you. Since it is, I'll go ahead and pass to ease your distress. Tail lights are easier on the eyes than Hi Beams!

I tried to pass, but you just sped up and wouldn't let me by. I'll dim my headlights, because I am right on your bumper!

    Hi Don,

LOL image I like that drafting reference! At the rate you've been moving up, I'll be glad just to stay on your bumber and draft awhile. Drafting makes us both faster, right? Cangrats on the new addition, that is one I have been hunting for awhile and seems darned hard to come by.
